So basically 2011 was the year of the 'root fade', blonde ends, darker roots, similar to the situation you find yourself in if you didn't have a lot of dough to take care of that re-growth.

Now it seems things have entered the next stage, like everything in fashion, people always have to take it a step further. I see not only 'root fade', but more interestingly people walking around with what I thought was hair that belonged to madame GAGA.

So what liberated feeling does one achieve from such statement? that knowledge of your uniqueness? or that you're just sick of the 'root fade'? ...this curiosity leaves me no choice but to try something of my own.

Unfortunately something like this, may not be the best choice in securing my employment prospects..

However, a nice bright choice of colour for summer wouldn't hurt, so if you have a dull do, follow suit kids.

White is a great color for summer but does not get utilize by men enough because of its distinctness. Harnessing white can give you’re outfit a boost to its full potential in order to reach a sporty or elegant look. Using Rene Lacoste as an example during the French Davis Cup pictured above we can see a preppy and monochromatic look which is a style in its own, but what we want to focus is the (white) that gives a clean-cut and multi-efficient spectrum that can give various contrast to other bold colors. A Great example is Paul Newman who I greatly admire if you look at his picture you will see white working at its best and worn very casually.

I was fortunate enough to have worked with my good friend Nichol Brooklyn and was able to have a first hand look at what Ivy League was all about. Kept away in Norwood Parade it was my first time venturing into a store which I have herd good things about. At first I was captivated by a vintage automobile within the store which set the tone for what I thought was a perfect theme in menswear. The collegiate vibe that had mixed message seem to invoke a lot of detail and care within the clothing itself and the store. Causal threads to one side with fitted suits to the other really shows the diversity in range that Ivy has to offer but still encapsulate a clean and authentic embodiment of a Americana, maritime/college style.

Store owner Luke as I had meant him is a great guy, he was very passionate about his products and ideals which really functions as a good reason to see what Ivy League offers. I was finally able to implement some style traits which I had and give reasonable feedback to what worked for a spring/summer outlook. It was fun working as I was helping to style a good friend of my, Osama which made time fly very quickly. What you see Osama wearing is just a small section of what Ivy League has installed but we can’t show you everything. You might have to make this store your next visit and get schooled with a college affair which…is my league, your league, our league… Ivy League

autumn minimalism...

Autumn is creeping in slowly and the fall of the summer heat will die down.... but not yet. The minimalism style in summer looks is key to sporting a well groomed look that ecapsulate both simplicity and modern mans style.

This look was affectively formed due to the change in weather and the afluent neighbourhood which personifies a detailed and sophisticated arrangement. The shirt is my own design i wanted a finer white but this was good enough, paired with the cub collar influeneced by Frank Sinatra.

The backpack is a vitange piece which i found on my day to day voyage, which is key in 2011 mens trends for acessories. The shoes are vintage esquire wingtips aslo known as brougues to you Gorden Gekko fans.

Hopefully....their will be some males sporting this style but we will never know.

So when it comes to being inspired, I'm for one can be inspired by the oddest things.

Case in point, a stack of chairs I saw.

First: The colour

I fell in love with this blend of blue and green pallette, and stumbled upon the perfect fabric in the markets..it was sitting right next to another very interesting colour.. (this will become clear in my next post)

Second: The hole in the chair

Now this gave me an idea to incorporate into my design..a fun detailing which I have adopted for the back panel of the dress..

My designs becomes clearer after finding that perfect fabric.

Thanks to the many bodycon style dresses out there, lace (the once neglected type of fabric) has now become one of the most expensive, more so than those luxurious sequined chiffon..

This was my kind of heaven. *sigh*

The making of boat shoes..

Needing a change from the world of high heels and aching feet..I decided to follow suit down the path of adrogyny by adopting a pair of boat shoes into my wardrobe. Masculine-looking as they maybe...they are ultimate in comfort, so it seems my white Converse may have itself some competition.

To make things more interesting I hunted down a shoe maker in BKK.. where there were hundreds of leather swatches available to customize your every on boat shoe...however, the colours couldn't pull me away from sticking to the classic... brown..as its original designers intended.

So following the path of the BKK fashion culture...I mixed abit of edge with some vintage..and what better than leather tights with boat shoes ?....

I'm smitten by the combination of colours and gold acessories. Its simple, crisp and clean, not overly designed, yet you're able to add more texture to it with accessories.

The only expression I can think of for this emerging trend is the bare canvas style. So think Ashley olsen's everyday get up. This is by far one of my favourite collections from the many talented australian designers...
